Here's a card using Big Wish set (with some Retro Fresh DSP):
And here are a couple using the pre-made templates from Happy Grad Day Card Templates.  After importing the template into the card size I wanted (they came as 5"x7" & I wanted to use them as 4.25"x5 1/2"), I simply changed the green to Summer Starfruit.  How SIMPLE would this be to custom color for the various graduations you get invited to this year?!

And finally, this adorable card using the Simple Stems stamp brush set:

Weekly Deals--March 19, 2014

I hope you guys enjoyed the Blog Hop this past weekend!!  So many FUN ideas by the ladies were shared!!  I know I normally post digital versions of the cards the other ladies show, and that's in the works, but maybe for a post next week!!  I'm just finishing a few days off (heading back in tonight), so spent a fair amount of the past couple of days (with the help of my friend Nancy H.) starting to sort/organize some of the disaster in my basement (with my year last year, my basement became a catch-all, and is in need of some MAJOR attention!).  My goal is that by summer, my Stamp Room will be out of my living room and moved back down in to my basement where it belongs!!

Stampin' Up! has some great Weekly Deals again this week, and as always, the deals are only good while supplies last!

Aren't these some GREAT deals?!  And I have to say, I absolutely LOVE the Grad Party Ensemble Digital Download.  If you have a grad in the house, the template announcements are GREAT,  but the colors/papers are NOT limited to JUST graduation!!  I got this download when it first came out, and if you're on the fence about it, getting it this week while it's a Weekly Deal--trust me, you will NOT be disappointed!!

First of all, I adapted the template page that came in the download to create this page:
Doesn't look like a graduation page any more, does it?!  And I use some of the other papers/embellishments on the following pages:

Now, I did use some of the 'graduation' paper/etc. to create this cool page that shows my entire family with each of our High School graduation photos:
But as always, MDS is not limited to just scrapbook pages.  I used one of the papers from the ensemble for the background on this Jewel Case Calendar page:

March Diva Blog Hop--Embellishments!!

Well, here we are a-hopping again today!!  I have to admit, I look forward to the middle of the month to see what each of these creative ladies are sharing on the hop!  If you're joining me from Autumn's blog, this is the final stop on the Hop today.  If you just came directly to my blog, you can start at Sue's blog and make your way thru all of them!!

Today's 'theme' is Embellishments.  Ink, paper & stamps are the basics of just about any paper-crafting project, but sometimes, it just needs a little something 'extra'.  Trying to narrow down which type of embellishment I wanted to highlight today was TOUGH, as I love all of the different options Stampin' Up! has for us, whether it be buttons, pearls, rhinestones, clips, brads, etc., there is SO much to choose from!!  But ultimately, I want to talk about some of the different Ribbon & Trim we offer.  I don't have samples of EVERY styles we currently carry, and I did not create each of these samples myself, but I hope you enjoy checking out this small sampling of what Stampin' Up! offers in this area!!

So, in checking out my Idea Book & Catalog (page 173), it appears that we have at least 14 different styles of ribbon and trim available during the catalog year in a wide variety of colors.  In addition, the current Occasions Catalog has another eight ribbon/trim options (several of which are additional colors to those listed in the main catalog), and there's even some twine you can get for FREE during Sale-A-Bration!   Another bonus is that if we don't have 'exactly' the color you're looking for, a neutral/white ribbon, a baggie, and a bottle of re-inker (you'll only need a few drops in the color you're going for) can have you customizing your own ribbon colors in a flash!!

The card above uses just a simple 6" piece of the Smoky Slate 3/4" Chevron Ribbon (it also comes in 11 other colors) that wraps around the Whisper White cardstock and is secured with glue dots on the back side.  It gives the illusion of wrapping all the way around the card.

I think the white 5/8" Organza Ribbon is one of my favorites.  Sometimes, just wrapping it around the card and tying a simple knot (then snipping the ribbon ends at an angle) is the perfect add-on (and one you'll see in a couple other examples below).

But another simple idea is to tie a knot in a length of ribbon that is then featured on the front of the card.

If you're into the Vintage look, then the 5/8" Crochet Trim is PERFECT for you.  On this card, I just tied a short length of the ribbon in a knot that I secured to the front of the card with Glue Dots.

Of course, ribbon & trim is not limited to cards.  You can certainly use it to wrap about a gift box like this one that uses the  3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon in Summer Starfruit (or one of the four other available colors).

Using the 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim (comes in five different colors) with Baker's Twine (comes in seven different options) around the top of a party favor bag is also a fun idea!!

My 'go-to' ribbon is generally the 3/8" Whisper White Taffeta, though it does come in four other colors as well.  This card again just has a simple knot tied in the ribbon and attached with Glue Dots.

The 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon is probably my second most-used ribbon.  There are seven color options in the main catalog, BUT, you can also get this awesome SILVER color currently available in the Occasion catalog.  Amy just wrapped the ribbon around the card a couple times for another fun look!

1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon comes in six different colors and on this card is also tied in a knot on the front.

I'm a fan of the 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain ribbon (and there are ten different color options!).  Here, Sue used it to actually tie two gift tags together (that the ends were trimmed on) and attach to the front of a card.  What a COOL look!!!
Card Designed by Sue L.
And in the Occasion Catalog, I paired together the 1 1/4" Pacific Point Stitched Grosgrain ribbon with Silver Baker's Twine to embellish the top of a tag.

Burlap ribbon seems to be quite popular right now as well.  Sue showed off this card last month on the hop, but it shows how just a small piece of something (and in this case 'forked' on the bottom) can just help add to the overall effect on the card!
Card Designed by Sue L.
BUT, I can't forget the twine that is one of the options in the Sale-A-Bration flyer.  Denise made a simple bow on her card, and Victoria used it to thread a button and tie a bow on hers.  Both GREAT ideas!!

February Paper Pumpkin

I FINALLY got around to playing with last month's Paper Pumpkin offerings--JUST as this month's package is getting ready to be delivered.  I just LOVE that with Paper Pumpkin, you pay a fee each month, but you have NO idea what will be arriving in your mailbox for you to create--sometimes it's a decor piece, other times it's cards, or a scraping/brag book, or even something else!!  Admittedly, I tend to enjoy the cards the most, BUT, February's offering made me pretty excited when I opened up the package--it contained enough supplies to create FIVE ADORABLE gift bags!!!

Another cool thing to note--the stamps themselves are now coming as photopolymers, so they're completely clear to see thru and be able to see where you're stamping!! You get two cool circle images in this kit--one is a small polka dot (the green starbursts on 'hello' bag) and the other is a small stripe (green starbursts on the 'howdy' bag) along with a Pistachio Pudding ink spot.  The teal circles, white starburts & the pre-printed letters are ready to be popped out of their sheets and assembled together (after stamping the starbursts, of course!!).  The white ribbon is SUPER easy to thread into the jumbo brad holes and tie a small knot in each, and the mini clothespins hold the circles on to the baker's twine!!

I've only put together two of the five bags so far (I want to keep the others for when I need something for a specific occasion!), but there are SOOOO many great options.  You could even spell out someone's name on the 'banner' if you wanted!!  Oh!!  And don't forget,  you can use the blue tissue paper that is in your Paper Pumpkin box to wrap around the gift that goes in the bag!  Reduce, reuse, recycle!!  :)

You can sign up for Paper Pumpkin today by visiting their web site.  Remember it's just $19.95 a month, and you can always choose to 'opt out' if the budget is tight that month!!

Happy Stamping!!
